Welcome to the Translational Orthopaedic Research Laboratory within the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill.  Our research focuses on understanding the normal structure and function of musculoskeletal soft tissues and using this information to develop new tissue engineering and regenerative medicine solutions. Areas of interest include experimental and computational evaluation of tissue structure and function during skeletal growth, biomimetic scaffold fabrication, and engineering of multi-tissue constructs.

Mission Statement

The musculoskeletal is critical for activities of daily living, including work and sports. Our goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the normal structure and function of musculoskeletal soft tissues and use this information to develop new therapies, including regenerative approaches, to improve patient outcomes after injury.

We value team science by leveraging diverse perspectives and experiences to engineer innovative solutions. Mentorship, critical thinking, integrity, and community are key underpinnings of our actions in and out of the lab.
